We like to think of ourselves as an old-school gym at heart. Think 'Golds' back in the Arnold and Franco days. We believe free-weight training and old school lifting is the meat and potatoes of bodybuilding. A small boutique warehouse-style gym, where not every Tom, Dick and Harry can train.
We do not do Casual sessions, as we prefer our gym to be a Members-Only environment, where you don't need to lock up your belongings. Besides this, our weekly rates are about the same or less than what other gyms charge for a single casual session! So you're better off joining.
Our weekly membership fees in most cases costs about 70% or even 40% of what other gyms charge; and less than 20% of what certain crossfit gyms charge.
We don't charge a joining fee for the sake of a joining fee. We do however charge a One-time security fee of $60 (paid by all members), which covers an access key for non-staffed hours and registration in our network security system (unlike other gyms which charge extra for these). However throughout the year we have No-Joining fee specials - Keep an eye out for these
Firstly, we don't like pressuring people to sign up, so only join us if you wish to be here. Though, here are a few reasons to:
Members have at their disposal, equipment to train each and every body part. Full set of commercial pro-style dumbbells at 5 lb increments, a range of benches to target every angle, plate loaded genuine Hammer Strength machines, a range of pin-loaded selectorized machines by LifeFitness, Nautilus and Precor, Commercial bikes, rowers etc. We simply cut out the BS bells and whistles. Come down and we will be glad to give you a tour.
We are a GYM, not a health club. We keep useless cardio equipment to a minimum, as they will wreak havoc on your joints and cause you more harm than good in the long run. Most of it just sits there not being used.
Nope. As said above, we are a Gym in the traditional sense.
To save on floorspace, we incorporate only the most used and effective machines.
Yep. There's nothing we like more, than being able to train in 4 different suburbs (*sarcasm*). I cannot remember the last time (even when young, dumb, and a franchise gym bum) I went on holiday within Australia and then sought out a branch of that gym in a different state; as most hotels these days have a gym setup that's adequate for a few days.
There are two main types of people that go to the gym:
Those who join a franchise gym because there's a branch near their work and a branch near their home. They try to go for 20 mins during their lunch break, otherwise they'll go to their local for a 15
minute treadmill session before going home and eating ice cream the rest of the night. These people go purely so they do not feel bad about themselves. Their bodies will not improve, their composition
will not change.
Then there are those who are dedicated to improving their physiques, their body, their attitude, and their self confidence. They have their workouts pre-planned and routinely train at the same place, according to set time routines with their regular training partner/s.
The latter is what we want here at The Foundry.
Of course. As long as you are able to perform the lift safely, go for it!
We would classify someone who purposely drops or bangs dumbbells, doesn't put away their weights properly after use, or leaves rubbish/gum on the floor, as a jerk. We like to think of gym members as a tight-knit family. Why not be part of that, and promote comradery? Remember, it is not my gym...it is OUR gym (all of us). So let's make it the best it can be.
This is a big No-No at The Foundry. There is no guarantee that a person waiting at the door is a member. If they end up stealing gym equipment, electronic equipment or cause any damage to the facility, then YOU can and will be liable! Furthermore, they could steal members' belongings. Besides the threat of theft, these people may be using the gym for free, and the rest of us will be paying for it. This is not fair on you or the rest of the gym members. One card swipe, one entry. Simple.
The following is some information about DebitSuccess, the third party company we use to process our Direct Debit membership payments. We feel it is important to have complete transparency with our members:
